About

My name is Rory Brown. I am the co-founder of a digital b2b media business called Briefing Media. Our first site (launched in September 2010) is called TheMediaBriefing.com. Others, following a similar format, are in the pipeline.

Prior to this (until the tail end of 2008) I was managing director of the interactive marketing division of Incisive Media – a large business media company based in London.

My background is in marketing – subscription magazines, conferences, training, events, books, research, online services etc. During my career I have worked on some of the largest and most successful brands in the business.

For my last 3 years with Incisive Media I was lucky to run an acquired business in the States specialising in search engine and digital marketing. I also ran a range of associated international events. The experience was eye-opening; especially in the context of what is happening to traditional media markets.

I am married and have 2 (occasionally) delightful young daughters.

I set up this site originally to just provide links to my various activities online but seem to have started blogging by mistake.

If you want to contact me the best way to do so is by e-mail at rory.home@gmail.com

Thanks for visiting.

Rory.

BTW – the picture above was taken in April in the NW Highlands of Scotland. One side of my family come from there & it’s a glorious place – see the link in the right hand column of this page for my blog about the area.

  1. Rory,

I would like to repurpose your blog on “what about retail” for a slightly different audience; publishers of local media sites who read newmediahub.com. Take a look-see and let me know if it’s ok with you. You can do the edit, or I can ie “local media publishers can take a lesson from the magazine industry. If advertising is shrinking, what about retail? That what Babies.com decided, etc.”

I like your writing style if you would like to blog on newmediahub let me know. We are putting 8 to 10 with pictures, etc. on the left of the site a la Huff Post in the next few weeks

    Thanks,

    Alisa Cromer
